The futuristic, jagged and imposing landscape of eroded limestone rocks attracts many day tourists every year. There are three easy, marked hiking trails. Torcal de Antequera is an unimaginable natural phenomenon, formed at a time when Andalusia was still under sea water, which is now some 60 million years ago. What you walk through today is the bottom of the sea that was pushed up as Africa collided with Europe. You can still see this in the beautifully preserved fossils of ammonites that you find in a number of places.

The Cruz del Humilladero is a historical monument located on the outskirts of the city of Álora. It is one of the main symbols of the city and has important cultural and religious significance.
The Cruz del Humilladero was built in the 16th century to commemorate a terrible epidemic that ravaged the city. The epidemic claimed many lives and the people of Álora decided to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ by building a huge cross.
The cross has an impressive height of 15 metres and has a crucifix on the front. It is made of natural stone and has a solid base to withstand the wind. The area around the Cruz del Humilladero is a popular meeting place for locals and offers beautiful views of the city of Álora and the surrounding mountains.
Every year on 3 May, the Romería de la Cruz takes place, in which Álora residents march in procession to the Cruz del Humilladero to honour the town's patron saint. During this procession, locals carry the statue of the Virgen de la Cabeza and offer flowers and candles at the cross.
The Cruz del Humilladero is an important cultural heritage of Álora and is often visited by tourists interested in the city's history and religion. It is a popular destination for photographers because of the monument's beautiful views and interesting history.
On the way to the cross, you will see a most interesting point from a geological point of view, through a natural area stretching between pine trees, rosemary, mastic, camomile and other species, which will convey the characteristic aromas of the mountain's purity.
The place you visit is called Hoyo del Toril by locals. It has long been a refuge for shepherds and bandits, who took advantage of its many caves to hide.
As there is only one entrance due to the steepness of the surrounding mountains, it was also used to confine cattle.
